Manchester United ‘evaluating’ Vincent Aboubakar after Cristiano Ronaldo joins Al Nassr
Manchester United are ‘evaluating’ Vincent Aboubakar as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently joined Al Nassr, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Express).
The Cameroon international is now a teammate of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in Saudi Arabia. However, the Riyadh-based club could be looking to part ways with the 30-year-old after the Portuguese icon’s arrival.
Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his attacking options after the 37-year-old’s forward departure.
The 5 time balloon d’Or winner departure midway through the season has made the club search for a new recognised striker to lead the line for Manchester United. But the club are looking for loan deals. Now, Aboubakar, Barcelona star Memphis Depay and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram are being seen as options.
The Cameroonian has been at Al Nassr since the summer of 2021. He has previously enjoyed a fruitful career, mainly at FC Porto. The 30-year-old has also had spells at Turkish outfit Besiktas.
Ronaldo left United after his contract was terminated at the club following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan. The 37-year-old has now signed for the Saudi Pro League outfit.
As a result of the Portugal international’s untimely exit from the Old Trafford side, Ten Hag has only one natural number nine in Anthony Martial. However, the France international has been on the sidelines for most of the campaign.
Marcus Rashford has also been deployed up front. The 25-year-old has been admirably leading the Red Devils’ attack this season
