Arsenal urged to hatch £127m plan
Jamie Carragher has urged Arsenal to spend big in the January transfer window to help them beat Manchester City in their Premier League title battle.
Carragher went on site the mistakes of their north London rivals Tottenham in 2012 and 2016 as a reason for the need to recruit in January to remain in the title race.
After speaking with Arteta on a number of topics including his five-phase plan, Carragher wrote in his Telegraph column that Arsenal cannot make the same mistakes their north London rivals have made in previous seasons.
Gakpo claim
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken on PSV star Cody Gakpo in his pre-Nottingham Forest press conference.
The former Ajax coach refused to comment on the 23-year-old a few weeks ago in Spain saying: "I cannot give comments on specific players. I will never do that." Ahead of United's Premier League return, the former Ajax coach remained coy over the topic
When asked about Gakpo, he said: "There were many, many good players in the World Cup… Van Nistelrooy says there’s a point when you can’t say no to bids? You can say that for many players."
World Cup winner is not a 'priority' for the Gunners
